1. How big is the Hero app? How much data does the app use?

The download for the Hero app is 57 mb. If mobile data is a concern for you please make sure you are connected to wifi before downloading the app. Once installed the app uses a negligible amount of data to update steps to the server. If you are offline or have no data connection, the app will still work, and will automatically update the server once a wifi or mobile data connection is established.

2. What are system requirements for Hero? Is iOS supported?

At this time the Hero app is only available on Android devices running Jelly Bean 4.2 or higher. iOS is not currently supported.

3. Why do you need my email address?

It is optional to enter an email address into Hero - you do not have to provide it if you do not want to. The email address is used for the sole purpose of connecting you to your friends via email if those friends are not on facebook or other supported social media platforms, so if you don’t provide it we won’t be able to connect you to your friends in this way.

4. How do I access the VR content?

To access the VR content (360 videos) you will need a Google Cardboard, Samsung Gear or similar mobile VR headset.

From the app, tap the menu in the top left of the app and then tap ‘gallery’. From the gallery you can tap to select the photo you wish to view and then tap the ‘cardboard’ icon in the bottom right of the photo. Follow the on-screen instructions to place your phone in the viewer and enjoy the content.

5. What happens if I don’t give the app phone permissions and then change my mind?

The app may not function correctly if the permissions are no given. You will need to reinstall the app again if you change your mind.

6. Does the app need to be open in the foreground of my phone to count steps?

No, the app will count steps while running in the background.

7. How does the step counter work? Can it be adjusted?

The step counter works from the phone’s internal accelerometer. Due to variations between devices some phones may record steps differently to others. The sensitivity of the step counter cannot be adjusted.

8. What is the XP gained in the app used for?

As you do exercise you will gain XP, once you have enough XP you will level up. Levelling up will unlock new content such as 360 photos and Hero avatar skins.

9. Can I remove a friend that I have added? Can people contact me via the app?

There is currently no way to remove a friend. It is not possible to be contacted or messaged in any way via the app.

10. Can I safely use my real name in the app?

Yes, it is safe to use your real name in the app, however you should not include any overly identifying details in the name field such as your address or school.

11. Are there any ads or in-app purchases in the app?

No, Hero is 100% free and doesd not contain any ads or in-app purchases.

12. I have found a bug or a fault with the app. How do I report it?

You can report any bugs or faults in the app via the in-app crash report or by emailing development@reload-labs.com.
